January 20, 2012 –The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) is hosting a panel discussion with three adults on the Autism Spectrum. Self-advocates on the Autism Spectrum have a tremendous amount of information to share about what life is like from their unique perspectives and their experiences as Autistic individuals. This event will be an interactive session with the Panelists discussing topics of personal interest, as well as insights about effective self-advocacy, successful employment, navigating social situations and relationships, coping with sensory integration issues, and strategies for handling transitions effectively. County Chapter
The purpose of the Lane
County Chapter of the Austism Society of Oregon (which
is the state chapter of the Autism Society) is to
coordinate delivery of services for a diverse autism community of
all ages and across all reaches of the autism spectrum; to advocate
for, serve, celebrate and educate the autism community; to collaborate
on services without duplicating efforts; to support and work with
other autism organizations; and to build and nurture a viable community
for young autists to grow up in and for our adults to thrive in.
The Lane County Chapter
of the Austism Society of Oregon will work closely with local grassroots
autism organizations - Bridgeway House, KindTree Productions, 4J
School District, Direction Service, Hilyard Community Center, U
of O, Autism Training and Support, Autism Speaks, and many others.
The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) is the state
chapter of the national organization, the Autism Society. AS is
the oldest and largest grassroots organization within the autism
community, with over 120,000 members. When you join AS, you will
automatically be entered into ASO’s database to receive mailers
and e-mail communications about the many events that ASO hosts throughout
