January 20, 2012 –The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) is hosting a panel discussion with three adults on the Autism Spectrum.  Self-advocates on the Autism Spectrum have a tremendous amount of information to share about what life is like from their unique perspectives and their experiences as Autistic individuals. This event will be an interactive session with the Panelists discussing topics of personal interest, as well as insights about effective self-advocacy, successful employment, navigating social situations and relationships, coping with sensory integration issues, and strategies for handling transitions effectively. MORE INFO HERE.

Our Mission

To empower individuals with Autism, their families and their service providers to improve the quality of their lives through support and information.

Our Goals

The Autism Society Oregon goals are to increase awareness of needs, interests, problems and solutions for people living with autism across a lifespan.

Autism Society of Oregon - Lane County Chapter

The purpose of the Lane County Chapter of the Austism Society of Oregon (which is the state chapter of the Autism Society) is to coordinate delivery of services for a diverse autism community of all ages and across all reaches of the autism spectrum; to advocate for, serve, celebrate and educate the autism community; to collaborate on services without duplicating efforts; to support and work with other autism organizations; and to build and nurture a viable community for young autists to grow up in and for our adults to thrive in.

The Lane County Chapter of the Austism Society of Oregon will work closely with local grassroots autism organizations - Bridgeway House, KindTree Productions, 4J School District, Direction Service, Hilyard Community Center, U of O, Autism Training and Support, Autism Speaks, and many others.

The Autism Society of Oregon (ASO) is the state chapter of the national organization, the Autism Society. AS is the oldest and largest grassroots organization within the autism community, with over 120,000 members. When you join AS, you will automatically be entered into ASO’s database to receive mailers and e-mail communications about the many events that ASO hosts throughout the state of Oregon.
